Children and youth today need positive, skilled adults who can connect with them and offer hope. This is especially true for those who find themselves stuck in patterns of ineffective behaviors.
Life Space Crisis Intervention is an empirically supported, compassionate, and productive approach to understanding and helping children and youth with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. It is a proven and refreshing approach to school and home discipline which provides practical alternatives to standardized punishment and traditional behavior management strategies. The strategies are designed to be individualized for the child or youth and supports students across all three tiers of the Response to Intervention (RtI) model.
This two-day introductory course reviews the impact of stress and trauma, the dynamics of the conflict, the importance of providing proactive support, and how to apply the intervention with children and youth who displace emotions. Part 1 is also available online as a video-based course. Individuals who have completed Part 1 are encouraged to enroll in Part 2.

This approach has origins in research from the National Institute of Mental Health, a presidential commission on Re-Education, and was further developed into a psycho-educational model by child psychologists Nick Long,Ph.D., and Frank Fescer, Ph.D., authors of Life Space Crisis Intervention: Talking with Kids in Conflict (ProEd, 2001) and founders of the Life Space Crisis Intervention Institute.
